When your baby reaches the weaning stage, you might have a number of questions. What to feed him? How to feed? When to feed? And so on and on. This process could be made easier by gradually feeding your baby and not making the weaning process a burden for both you and the baby. When you start weaning, begin with just a few spoons that the baby eats easily and then slowly increase the servings. Here are recipes for some baby foods that your 4-6 months old baby might love to eat:
Butternut Squash Puree
Preheat your oven to 375 F. Take a butternut squash and cut it half lengthwise. Place it in a baking dish facing downward. You can add a little water to avoid the butternut squash from sticking. Using aluminum foil, cover the dish and bake for 45 minutes. When it is cooked, remove from oven and allow it to cool. Scoop out the butternut squash and puree it in your food processor. Add a little water to ensure the desired consistency.
Sweet Potato Puree
Take 4 oz sweet potato and finely dice them. Put them in a pot and add one cup water. Bring it to boil and cook for fifteen minutes. If it is too thick, add water and if it is very watery, cook a little longer. Either mash the sweet potatoes or blend it in a food processor. Cool the puree and serve it to your baby. You can even cook the sweet potatoes in a baby food processor and then puree it in the processing bowl of your food processor. Brown Rice Cereal
Take half cup short grain brown rice and finely grind in a food processor. Boil half cup water and add two tablespoons ground brown rice. Store the remaining ground brown rice for later use in a sealed container. Keep stirring the mixture and when it is creamy and thick, remove from heat. Serve when cool with a little formula or breast milk.
